Sir Saeed Zahedi OBE FREng FIMechE RDI, Technical Director of Chas A Blatchford & Sons, was knighted at 2017 Queen’s birthday honour for services to Engineering and Innovation received a Special Commendation in the Prince Philip Designer prize in 2011 and British Health Trade Association life time achievement award for nearly 40 years of service in prosthetics & orthotics in 2013. His work at Blatchford has led to achieving 3 of their 4 Queens Awards and EEF winner of the winners in 2014. He has received several prizes for scientific papers, 5 BLESMA awards, IMechE Special Needs, and Forchheimer as far back in 1989, for his PhD work conducted at Strathclyde University. Chair of UK International Society of Prosthetic and Orthotic and a member of protocol and scientific committee, representing UK in ISO, CEN and IEC committees on prosthetics, robotics, author/ co-author over 125 scientific papers, 35 patents, came to London at age of 16 to continue his studies, obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering in London and after his doctorate and working at university in Glasgow, he worked for NHS in Tayside. He moved back to England in late 80s to work in R&D in industry and in 2016 he and his team were the winners of UK Engineering Mac Robert Award and in 2017 won German Design and US Medical Design Excellence Award. He actively supports various committees in Royal Academy of Engineering. With the R&D team looking at future integrated products and services in conjunction with Headley court servicemen and as part of Horizon 2020 he is coordinator of MovAid project for factories of future. He is part of US AOPA 2020, Medical advisory board and in the 100th anniversary was awarded the life time achievement in 2017.
